The decoration trend 2020

What's your interior going to look like this year?

Answers in pictures and deciphering the 2020 deco trends to follow, or not! A bit of velvet here and there, cane there, funny faces, ceramics, tiles on the linen, you name it, and the best ones...

When certain decorating trends are confirmed, others are on the rise or are making a strong comeback in 2020. Spotted and deciphered by me, they will soon hold no more secrets for you!

  • Canning is definitely ageless:
This very old weaving technique is back. This mixture of rattan and wicker is declined in light fixtures, furniture, chairs and accessories.

  • Faces show their faces in the decoration:
In every book or decoration shop you can now find many face drawings: on a cushion, a vase, a carpet or even as a wall jewel, the portrait is available in different periods and styles. The hardest will be to choose between antique inspirations, tributes to Matisse or ethnic influences.

  • The grid or when the decoration is checkered:
Timeless and not too difficult to associate. You can find them in all decoration shops or supermarkets. From table linen to bed linen, this pattern squares living spaces with style and offers a graphic side worthy of the Memphis style.

  • The second hand in first position:
If the trend was already towards "nothing is thrown away, everything is transformed". You can find everything, whether it's at a garage sale or an online flea market, or in the local yard sales! So make some room for your grandmothers' old decorative objects.

  • Velvet is still very much alive:
Velvet decoration goes beyond the ages and always remains in the trend. This winter it can be found everywhere, for example on sofas. This very soft fabric will allow you to warm up your interior. Don't hesitate to buy nice cushions or a plaid.

  • Berber carpets to change the atmosphere:
This carpet known as Berber woven by hand in the Moroccan Atlas can take different shapes, colors or patterns. It allows you to change the atmosphere, warm the floor or even the walls once it is hung on the wall.

  • Wax print, happy print:

Originally from Indonesia, wax print is a joy for Africans when they go out for ceremonies but also for designers and decorators. An IKEA and Monoprix collection is dedicated to it. Wax with its inimitable print style can be found on many decorating accessories and we are asking for more! A great way to brighten up your home on rainy days.

  • Everything can be one thing:

To avoid weariness, the decoration does not tire of mixing everything! Rustic and industrial, artisanal and retro, ethnic and modern, the 2020 trends combine all the trends to reinvent themselves. So you can do a little bit as you like. Don't forget that decoration is above all what you like. So mixing harmoniously everything you like will never be a mistake.
